Matteo Baxiu

Choir director and conductor, Matteo Baxiu, began his music studies in Brescia with Giuseppe Pagani and continued his education at the Ambrosian Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Milan, at the Academy of Music in Pescara and at the International Academy of Music in Milan.

He attended the “International Course of choir and orchestra“ of the Frentana Music Summer in Lanciano, where he had the opportunity to work with Maestro Piero Bellugi. He took conducting courses under Maestro Antonio Cericola in Lanciano (2001) and in Pescara (2004 and 2005) obtaining a diploma with merit. He studied composition with Maestro Arturo Sacchetti.

He holds a degree in Ancient Literature from the University of Milan.
In 1995 he founded the Theophilus Choir and since then he has been involved in choir direction, developing a great experience and sensitivity for choral music.
As a conductor he has performed in many concerts, with a wide repertoire ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music.
